50 Merpati pilots resign over unpaid salaries

Fifty pilots employed by PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines have resigned their positions because the

company, which currently faces massive debt, has failed to pay their salaries and other benefits

for three consecutive months.

Heathrow flight delays to be cut by new air traffic control initiative  

Following the recommendation made by the independent Airports Commission, Heathrow will be

the first airport in the world to introduce a new system of managing arriving flights using the

amount of time between flights, rather than distance.

FAA likely to miss deadlines on NextGen, UAS and PBN     

Even though the FAA is providing funding for several airlines to purchase ADS-B equipment, the

agency likely will not be able to mandate ADS-B in technology by 2020, as it is required to do by

the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012, Transportation Department inspector general

Calvin Scovel III told Congress yesterday.

Strong rise in global air passenger traffic – IATA  

Global air passenger growth rose by 5.2% in 2013 compared with the previous year, according to

IATA’s full-year traffic results.

PIA making efforts to induct 20 aircraft in fleet    

Pakistan (PIA) is making all out efforts to induct at least 20 aircraft with long, medium and short

in its fleet.

Sochi fears spark liquid ban on flights between U.S., Russia

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration is temporarily banning carry-on liquids, aerosols,

gels and powders on flights between Russia and the United States, a Department of Homeland

Security official said on Thursday.
