Ukraine dismisses criticism over Russian flights

Russia accused Ukraine on Wednesday of putting lives at risk by preventing Russian pilots and

crew disembarking from passenger flights but the Ukrainian authorities said the report distorted

the facts.

Researchers tackle high-altitude engine icing    

Over the last 20 years, the aviation industry has documented more than 200 incidents where

turbofans have lost power during high-altitude flights, according to NASA.

U.S. NTSB issues safety alert on wrong airport landings

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board issued a safety alert on Wednesday about how

airplane pilots can avoid the “potentially catastrophic mistake” of landing at the wrong airport.

Lufthansa scraps flights amid strikes at German airports

Deutsche Lufthansa (LHA) AG, Europe’s second-largest airline, has canceled 30 percent of flights

scheduled for March 27 as a walkout by trade unions demanding higher pay at German airports

grounds part of its fleet.

As Assad advances, Syria launches commercial airline

A new Syrian airline plans to start flights from the war-torn country in May, a company manager

told Reuters on Wednesday, following months of gains on the battlefield by forces loyal to

President Bashar al-Assad.

Legal loopholes on unruly passengers should be closed: IATA

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has urged governments to close legal loopholes

that allow unruly passengers to escape law enforcement for serious offences committed on

board aircraft.
