Flights disrupted by strike at Frankfurt Airport
Security workers at Frankfurt airport went on strike on Friday, prompting dozens of flight
cancellations and causing delays to passengers passing through Europe’s third-largest hub.
FAA releases sweeping helicopter safety rule
In a move designed to stem a spike in helicopter accidents that occurred over the past couple of
decades, FAA on February 20 released a comprehensive final rule that imposes a series of
equipment, training and operational requirements on helicopters flown in Part 135 generally
and in air ambulance missions specifically.
American warns pilots it will move large regional jets away from Eagle
American Airlines Group has backed away from its threat to liquidate its regional carrier American
Eagle but it still plans to shift planes away from the regional carrier after the union rejected a
10-year contract, the union’s top officer said Thursday.
Airlines face fines as deadline looms on EU ETS
US airlines have stepped up the pressure on EU countries not to impose fines for alleged breaches
of emissions rules in the latest twist to an international row over aircraft pollution.
Air traffic controllers complete training course
Twenty-five air traffic controllers last Friday successfully completed the rigorous
Aerodrome/Approach Control training course offered by the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority
Training Institute (CAATI).
Vietnam to tighten security control on flights to Russia
After the Russian Ministry of Transportation warned of the risk of terrorist by handmade explosive
devices hidden in containers of liquid, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) says it
will strengthen security control for flights from Vietnam to Russia.
