 French ATC strike may hamper Airbus A350 debut
Preparations for the first flight of the Airbus A350 have hit a snag as the fallout widens from a
three-day air traffic control strike due to start on Tuesday, French transport sources said.
 Qatar Airways and CTC recruiting for Australian pilots
Qatar Airways has contracted CTC Aviation to select and train the airline’s future pilots through a new Multi-crew Pilot Licence (MPL) training program open to international applicants.
 Ongoing sequester will challenge NextGen, FAA Chief says
Continuing annual budget reductions due to the “sequester” process in the U.S. will make it difficult for the Federal Aviation Administration to complete the enabling programs of the NextGen ATC modernization effort on time, FAA Administrator Michael Huerta told the NextGen Advisory
Committee (NAC) on 4 June.
EU and Israel sign agreement
In the margins of the EU Transport Council in Luxembourg, the European Union and Israel have today signed a comprehensive air transport agreement which will gradually open up and integrate their respective markets, develop an aviation area with common rules, offer economic benefits for consumers and new opportunities for the industry.
 Southwest flight diverted after phone threat
A Southwest Airlines flight bound for Texas from Los Angeles with 143 passengers aboard was
forced to land in Phoenix on Monday after a telephoned bomb threat and US fighter jets were
diverted to monitor the situation, authorities said.
 FAA to propose sensor-only runway landings
The US Federal Aviation Administration is set to take the first step towards allowing pilots to land an aircraft using only sensors to see the runway.
