US pilots to need more flight time to qualify
The United States will increase the flight experience required of pilots on US airlines, a long-awaited
move not related to the crash last weekend of an Asiana Airlines Boeing 777 in San Francisco.
European Commission allocates €600 million for Single European Sky research
The European Commission is investing €600m to help develop technology that can streamline flights
across the region’s increasingly crowded airspace.
ALPA to Congress: Support U.S. aviation industry; prohibit funding for Abu Dhabi preclearance facility
Capt. Lee Moak, president of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), today urged Congress to
support the U.S. aviation industry and prohibit funding for a Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
preclearance facility at the Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Emirates to expand presence in Eastern Europe with launch of Kiev
Emirates, one of the world’s fastest growing airlines, unveiled new expansion plans for Eastern
Europe today, with the launch of daily services to Kyiv Boryspil International Airport in Kiev from
16 January 2014, marking its first route to the Ukraine.
Alaska Airlines pilots ratify five-year contract
Alaska Airlines pilots on Wednesday approved a new five-year contract. With nearly 94 percent of
1,343 eligible pilots casting a ballot, 67 percent voted in favor of the agreement.
