Tigerair pilots’ union seeks urgent Fair Work hearing
The union representing Tigerair Australia’s pilots has asked the Fair Work Commission for an
urgent hearing to block the airline’s effort to determine how many are planning to take part in
industrial action from Friday.
FAA pilot safety training blamed for fewer flights
The Federal Aviation Administration chief told a House panel Wednesday that the agency pursued
greater safety in requiring more pilot training, a move that some airlines blamedfor reducing flight
service across the Midwest.
In a first, pilots will receive real-time data on weather
From February 10, pilots will receive online real-time data on weather updates on-board a flight
with the help of the Aviation Weather Observation System (AWOS) that will be inaugurated at
the Juhu Airport. According to K S Hosalikar, Deputy Director-General of meteorology, IMD
Mumbai, said such a standalone system that allows direct communication with pilots, providing
weather data, will be used for the first time in the country.
Lufthansa calls for fair competitive environment
Lufthansa has called on European regulators for a fair environment to avoid unfair competition,
following Etihad Airways’ plans to invest in Alitalia.
U.S. said to warn carriers of bomb material in toothpaste
Airlines flying to Winter Olympics host Russia are being warned to watch for toothpaste tubes
containing materials that could used by terrorists to make a bomb, according to a U.S. law
enforcement official.
Thai AirAsia X all set to take off
Thai AirAsia X will go ahead and apply for operating permits in Thailand and slots for its
international routes after securing an Air Operator’s Certificate.
