India approves controlled cockpit rest for pilots
India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced support for periods of
controlled cockpit rest for pilots.
Iraq shuts down major airport
Iraq closed the international airport in its second largest city Mosul on Tuesday, grounding all flights
without giving any explanation, air industry and security sources said.
El Al nixes flights to Eilat over safety worries
El Al announced Tuesday it was canceling all of its flights from Tel Aviv to Eilat in response to what it
called “a one-sided decision” by the Israel Airport Authority to set a new flight route for the planes.
ATSB releases training video on data input errors
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) released a training video highlighting some near
catastrophes that occurred after experienced pilots incorrectly entered takeoff data in the flight
management computer aboard large airline aircraft, including a Boeing 747 and 767 and an Airbus
A340.
DGCA warns Bihar on flight safety issues at Patna airport
Aviation regulator DGCA has warned Bihar government to take urgent steps to upgrade flight safety
at the Patna airport or else it will have only small aircraft operating from there.
Kuwait Airways may delay deal for Airbus jets
Kuwait Airways may delay a plan to buy 25 new aircraft from Airbus, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on
Monday, saying the state-owned carrier would prioritize leasing planes instead.
New OSHA cabin rules take effect this month
New work rules governing occupational safety and health conditions for cabin crew will become
effective September 26.
